Drive your desktop browser from your phone

You are out; you send one message from your phone; the browser on your computer at home or at work starts doing the job — signed in to the accounts it already has — and the result comes back to your phone.

How it works

The extension cannot be installed on a phone: on iOS only Safari supports browser extensions, and on Android only Firefox. So we do not run a browser on the phone — the phone is the remote control. You talk on the phone; the browser that actually does the work is the one on your computer with the Buddy extension. The two devices find each other through your account — no pairing, and they do not have to be on the same network.

A permission card appears on the phone — press Allow. The same card also appears on the computer; either one works. That is deliberate, not a duplicate.
2
A line appears at the top of the chat page on the computer, telling whoever is sitting there that the browser is working for another device.
3
The extension opens tabs and reads pages inside the 👀 Buddy tab group, using the accounts already signed in on your computer.
4
The result comes back to the conversation on your phone.

Why not a browser in the cloud

A cloud browser is a stranger's machine that has never signed in anywhere: it cannot see your store admin, your ad account or your member pricing, and sites are quicker to stop an unfamiliar machine and ask it to prove it is human. In your own browser all of that is already there, and your sign-ins stay on your computer — they are never handed to us.

What you need

Nothing to install on the phone: open Agentic Hat in the phone's browser and sign in to the same account. The computer has to meet all three of these — miss one and it will not work:

  • Chrome on the computer has the Buddy extension installed
  • The computer has the Agentic Hat chat page open, signed in to the same account. The marketing site or any other page does not count; the tab may sit in the background, but it must not be closed
  • The computer is awake. Once the lid is closed or it goes to sleep, it no longer receives work from the phone

Three moments that need a tap from you

When the agent uses the browser there are three moments where it stops and waits for you. Driven from a phone, each behaves differently:

  • Permission for a new site: appears on both the phone and the computer, and either one works
  • Human verification (CAPTCHA): can only be completed on the computer. The phone shows a notice that it was stopped and is waiting for a person
  • Irreversible actions such as paying or submitting: the confirmation appears on the computer only. On the phone the agent tells you what it wants to press, and waits until you are back at the computer to approve it

Current limits

  • This is a beta: it works, it is still being refined, and behaviour may change
  • The chat page on the computer does not show the conversation you are having on the phone — only that line at the top. The real signal is the browser opening tabs by itself
  • When you ask it to collect images, they are stored on the computer that did the work. They are usable within that turn, but a follow-up on the phone such as “keep only the 2nd and the 5th” will not connect. Work that involves picking images back and forth is better done at the computer
  • Tasks that need a CAPTCHA solved or a payment approved cannot be finished from the phone

Common questions

It says no browser is connected, or that the extension is not installed
Go through the three items under “What you need”. The two usual causes: the chat page on the computer was closed, or the computer went to sleep.
I am sitting at the computer and a permission card appeared there too
That is expected. A permission card appears on every device you are signed in on; press any one of them and the others disappear.
